M4: How does the exported material meet the client brief
Client brief:
To create a magazine front cover I must ensure all of the pages are the correct dimensions. A typical magazine is 21.59cmX27.94cm so I must set up my page like this.
My magazine is set to 30dpi because it is considered to be higher quality for print because more dots results in more pixels. However, if I wanted to distribute my magazine pages digitally I should use 72DPI as it is a high quality bandwidth efficient resolution for web pages whereas lower resolution will look bad.
My exported magazine matches the client brief because i have thoroughly researched the codes and conventions of real magazines to aid in the production of my own.
As you can see, i decided to export my magazine as a tiff file as that is a high-quality file format that other magazines use and is widely used for print product like magazines and newspapers. For the front cover, contents page and double page spread i clicked file, save as, placed them into my onedrive folder saved them as a tiff file. In the settings when exporting the double page spread and contents page, i changed compression to none to get maximum possible quality. Then i exported them both and chose the TIFF file option.
When saving and exporting files, there are many different types of formats you can choose from such as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, MP3, MP4 and GIF; each format contains its own benefits and disadvantages depending on the use and purposes. For example, JPEG, PNG and TIFF are used for images and graphics to be kept at high quality. DOC is used for written documents like word files. MP3 is an audio file, which is mainly used for music. MP4 is a video&audio file, where it contains details for both however it is not relavant to my magazine. There are many different uses. For my Anti magazine i chose TIFF for higher image quality and it uses lossless compression. The file will not lose quality when exported however it will have a large file size. It might take a while to load on a website because it contains alot of details and qualities. Because my magazine would be printed, TIFF would be format when printing.
